The Masonry Heater is Complete!

After a couple months of down time, we are happy to unveil the newest addition to Packbasket Adventures.  We now have a masonry heater in the great room!

“What is a masonry heater?” you may ask. Similar to a fireplace, it has a firebox with a glass door where you can be mesmerized by the flickering flames. But instead of all that precious heat leaving the building out the chimney, it winds its way through a series of baffles heating the core and granite facade along the way.  The granite then gently radiates that heat back out into the room over an extended period of time.

The great room at the lodge feels complete now with this focal point in the room. And the bonuses . . .  a bench to sit and warm yourself, a space underneath to warm your shoes, and a bake oven!  Yes, a bake oven where our staff will bake up an appetizer pizza or a crusty baguette to go with your meal.
